Cultural Immersion Beyond Borders

Townsville Primary School hosted a delegation of students from Shenzhen OCT Primary School, for a vibrant cultural exchange. The visit was successfully integrated into our annual Mother Tongue Language Fortnight (MTLF), offering our guests a deep dive into the diverse heritage of Singapore.

Our Malay Language (ML) and Tamil Language (TL) pupils enthusiastically guided the visitors through various traditional activities. The exchange included hands-on cultural crafts such as the intricate Batik Painting and Karagam Making. Students also participated in spirited traditional games, including the energetic Sepak Takraw and Tarik Upih, alongside Indian Pinyata and the Balancing Dance (Karagaattam).

Through these immersive activities, both our local pupils and our guests gained a deeper understanding of Singapore's rich cultural tapestry, demonstrating how our international partnerships enrich the learning journey and broaden the perspectives of all our students.
